Customer hierarchy

In SolidRed, the customer hierarchy is a way to organize and manage users and entities within the application. It provides a hierarchical structure that allows for efficient management of customer accounts and their associated assets, devices, dashboards, and other resources.
Here's an overview of how the customer hierarchy works in SolidRed:
SolidRed Customer: At the top of the hierarchy, there is a special customer called the SolidRed Customer. This customer serves as the parent or root of all other customers in the system. The Root Customer is created during the initial setup of SolidRed and has administrative privileges to manage the entire customer hierarchy.
Customers: Underneath the SolidRed Customer, multiple customer accounts are created. Each customer represents an entity or organization / site that uses SolidRed to manage their assets and devices. Customers act as containers or groups for organizing resources and users.
Customers are typically geographical locations or sites within your organization.
Users and Roles: Within each customer account, you can create user accounts and assign roles and permissions. Users can have different roles, such as administrators, operators, or viewers, which determine their level of access and the actions they can perform within the customer account.
A typical customer hierarchy with two customer accounts looks like:

Within a customer, users can be created and classified into two groups:
Customer Users
Customer Administrators
The user group "All" shows users from both groups.
Other customer hierarchy options should not be used and will be deleted in a future version of SolidRed.
Click on a group to add, up or delete users from that group.
To add a user, you need to provide the following information:
First Name
Last Name
Description
Where the items highlighted in bold are required.
For the activation method you can choose between two options:
Display activation link
Send activation email
In SolidRed, it is customary to configure the mail server. In such cases, you should choose option 2. The user will then receive an email containing instructions on how to activate their account. Afterwards, the user can log in to SolidRed.
